Yoga Shakti Lunar Flow

The Yoga Shakti Lunar flow pose is a sequence of fast moving and rather difficult steps. This sequence is for the young and agile who have supple bodies and flexible joints. Those who suffer from arthritis and rheumatism need to consult their doctor before they proceed to do any part of this sequence. Learning to do this sequence under the guidance of a trained yoga tutor is a must.

You start doing this sequence from a supine position, by lying on your back and breathing consciously. Your arms are by your sides and palms pressed against the mat. Your legs are straight down your hips.

Raise your legs by bending them from the knees, and lift your feet up to bring your knees near your chest. In the same momentum, take your legs beyond your head, and rest your feet on the floor behind your head. The tips of your toes should touch the floor. You may support yourself to move into this position by placing your palms against your back and pressing your upturned back forward. Pause at this pose.

Lift your feet up and raise your legs to make them vertical. As you do this, also make your back vertical too. Place your palms against your back, to act as a prop to stabilize your position. With your head down and legs up, your face and brain get an additional supply of blood. To exercise your calf muscles you can twist your legs over each other. Pause at this position for some time.

Lower your legs by bending from your hips, while keeping your back straight. Spread your legs to either side and pause.

Lift both legs up once again, and lower your right leg down, so that your legs are at a right angle to each other. Lower your right leg further down to touch your toes once again to the floor. Repeat this process by lifting your right leg and lowering your left leg to the mat. Pause.

Lower both your legs to the mat and spread your legs to either side. This is rectum opening move. Pause for some time and then bring your legs near each other. Bend your legs from the knees and place your knees on either side of your head. Take your arms around your legs and wrap your arms around them. Hold your right palm with your left.

Cross your legs while you are in an upside down position, and rotate your legs in this crossed position over your torso to rest them on the floor. Try to do this without releasing your legs from the crossed position. Pause and then straighten your legs.

Bend your legs from your knees and turn both your legs first to the right and then to your left. After this rather tiring sequence a well deserved break is the right thing to do. Relax for a few minutes and emerge from this sequence feeling refreshed.
